Ilmari Tapiovaara for Laukaan Puu, Pirkka stool, beech, pine, Finland, 1950s. This stool is designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara. This stool was manufactured in the late 1950s. The stool was the first item from the Pirkka range, and was originally designed as a Sauna stool for cooling off after a bath. Later, the stool was exported as the quintessential Finnish design icon and fittingly named the 'Finnstool'. This stool features a dark varnished pine and beech structure with ebonized legs.
